On Saturday I made 100 of these little cuties for a 21st birthday party. They looked so sweet! The only trouble, as always with cupcakes, is getting them to their destination in one piece. I didn't have any proper mini cupcake boxes so we squeezed them into normal cake boxes and put the ones which didn't fit on a tray and then my partner drove whilst I sat with them all on my lap trying desperately not to bounce. So to anyone who drove behind a very scruffy Punto going very, very slowly down Grange Road on Saturday I apologise :)

I realised I hadn't posted the pictures of the maths cupcakes I made the other day and which I was very proud of! I googled the Pi symbol - I failed my maths O level twice so I have no memory of maths thingys - and the number on the top left cake is the square root of pi (apparently). So even maths can be fun when it's on a cupcake (I'm joking, of course maths is very interesting gulp).

We took lots of pictures of the Elvis and sticky toffee cupcakes so I'll post those shortly.

Some of the cakes from this week's stall - these are a mixture of chocolate and Oreo cookie cupcakes. One of the most popular flavours in recent weeks has been chocolate (hand chopped up chunks of dark chocolate yummy) and banana. Next week I'm going to do peanut butter, chocolate and banana - in other words the Elvis cupcake! I went to the garage in Barton, which has American sweets and goodies, and bought some Reece's pieces to sprinkle over them - should be pretty good :))

I'm also going to make some sticky toffee pudding cupcakes with caramel sauce, that's what you need on a cold winter's day! I'll post the photos next week.

We went to see friends in Devon last weekend and made 2 batches of cupcakes which we all decorated together. It was really good fun, everyone joining in and covering the house with sprinkles! These are 2 which we liked best - this is the nickname of the birthday boy, immature but funny :) so we had to write it on his cakes..

These are some of the lovely little pink cupcakes I made for a baby shower last weekend. I did some with 'baby girl' written on too but the lighting didn't come out too well on the photo so they are doomed never to see the light of day (poor them). I love making them for baby celebrations - perhaps because you can use lovely pastel colours - but I'm also really looking forward to making them for Valentine's day. I'm going to make some for the market stall and I'll post some pictures on here. Love is definitely in the air :))

I can't remember if I've used this photo before but I thought it was a nice reminder of warmer days and strawberry cupcakes. I'm returning to the market on Wednesday after being away over Christmas and not being hardy enough to brave the stall in snow. But, enough is enough, and today I'm baking again and looking forward to getting back out there :) (This is a slight exaggeration; I love working on the market but it gets bloomin' freezing out on there so I'll be getting out of the car with my boxes of cakes with an feeling of trepidation and wondering if I've got enough pairs of socks on - current maximum pair of socks is 4 which isn't quite enough to keep warm but any more and you can't get your boots on..)

This was the Victoria sponge I made to smuggle into the National Trust property we were visiting at the weekend where they had a Dickensian Christmas. This mainly involved old people dressed up in Victorian costumes in Wimpole Hall and us shuffling round small rooms - they didn't open the kitchen, why?! - whilst the children did olden days' activities. We were saving ourselves for a cup of tea at the end of our race round the house - now carrying lavender bags and with smuggled cake (much cheaper than the ones they have) - but they wanted to close the tea rooms so the tea, which was luke warm by now, was served by a very grumpy - possibly very authentic - old lady in the outside cafe and there were no hot chocolates for the children so they had diet Pepsi. The cake was bloomin lovely though so that saved the day (if I say so myself).
