This cake just goes to show that you really can't beat a vanilla sponge filled with jam and cream - it was the cake that I was the most reluctant to hand over to the recipient!

- I am 40 something mum of four children aged from 21 to 9 - 2 boys and 2 girls. After many years doing terrible temping jobs I decided to try and start my own business and over the last few months have done just that! We live in a lovely little house in Cambridge which has a garden that is gradually turning into a forest and which we are trying, halfheartedly I'm afraid, to contain. I'm really enjoying working on the market in Cambridge and am about to start my first winter season - will I survive the cold and wind? We'll have to see..
